1) The proposed extension continues the line of the existing roof and does not therefore appear as a subservient addition to the property. Its size and design represents an unacceptable enlargement of the dwelling to the detriment of the character and appearance of the streetscene; as such the proposal is contrary to policy BE1 of the Adopted Mid Bedfordshire Local Plan 1993, Policy DPS6 of the Mid Bedfordshire Local Plan First Review (Deposit Draft) Incorporating Proposed Modifications 2003 and Adopted Supplementary Planning Guidance - House Extensions and Alterations- A Guide for Applicants.
