Informative Notes:
1 )Proposals to alter or repair a thatched roof, which would affect its character, can require the submission of an application for listed building consent - and it is best to check with the conservation officer well before staring on works. The continuation of an alien form of thatch would, it is considered, result in harm to the significance of a designated heritage asset under the terms of the National Planning Policy Framework para. 134. Re thatching in long straw will not normally require consent, so long as the proposed repairs or works accord with usual conservation good practice. The change back to long straw and plain flush ridges is seen as a long term process, working in partnership and with the agreement of owners and thatchers.Proposals to alter or repair a thatched roof, which would affect its character, can require the submission of an application for listed building consent - and it is best to check with the conservation officer well before staring on works.
