5 )The applicant is advised that the dwellings may be adversely affected by sewage odour. This area has been subject to extended periods of odour from the nearby Letchworth Sewage Treatment Works and Central Bedfordshire Council has received over 150 odour complaints in the past 18 months from nearby residents. This led to the Council serving an odour abatement notice on Anglian Water, which they are currently in the process of seeking to comply with by installing odour mitigation measures at the sewage treatment works. It is hoped (but at this point this cannot be guaranteed), that these works will lead to a reduction in the odour issues that have arisen over the past 18 months. The applicant is advised that the dwellings may be adversely affected by sewage odour.
